churchill Biography

Churchill began as singer/songwriter Tim Bruns and musician friend Michael Morter teamed up with a passion to create relevant music rooted in acoustic instruments, redemptive lyrics and refreshingly good melodies. This six piece, indie-folk band was fully formed after the addition of cello, piano, bass and drums adding to the already listenable guitar-mandolin duo.

Since their debut performance in May 2009, Churchill has been gaining momentum and turning heads in Denver. With compelling and emotive lead vocals, a noticeable creative energy on stage, powerful harmonies and satisfyingly distinct instrumentation the band has won praise from fans and critics alike, “With a powerful drum/bass foundation underneath them, Churchill adds acoustic guitar, keyboard, mandolin and cello to create a sound with elements of rock, folk, alternative and ‘new-grass,’ in a combination you have likely never heard, but will not likely forget once you do,” Jeff McQuilkin, Examiner.

In December 2009, the sextet placed third in KTCL’s Hometown for the Holidays radio contest as voted by Colorado listeners. A universally appealing sound, continued radio play and sold out shows are fueling immense success for the Denver act locally and beyond.
